events
I find event photography to be one of the most challenging yet rewarding styles. The lighting is highly variable, rarely ideal, and sometimes almost entirely non-existent. Live performances may only offer a brief window to capture a meaningful moment. But event photography creates lasting, sharable memories of an otherwise intangible experience. And perhaps most importantly, the process of working through raw captures to create finished images parallels that of working through raw emotions to create new meanings.
Below are some of the events I’ve shot over the past several years. Burning Man is an annual art festival and experiment in intentional community that takes place on a remote (normally) dry lake bed in northwestern Nevada. TRAUMA is a multi-day Halloween fetish party in Ohio. Artica is a free public arts event in a former industrial area of St. Louis that is based on the principles of Burning Man.
